The Employers’ Federation of India (EFI) was established in 1933, as an association of autonomous organizations of industry and was set up with the purpose of protecting, promoting and championing the interests of employers mainly in the area of human resources, industrial relations, labour problems and cognate matters. Apart from relentlessly championing the cause of the employers in various fora nationally and internationally, over the years, EFI has kept pace with the changing business scenario and has provided need-based services to the employers in India. Employers’ Federation of India plays a special role as an apex body of employers’ organizations and industries on matters concerning labour, human resource management, industrial relations and other related issues.

The Federation represents the employers’ concerns and views at various tripartite fora of the Ministry of Labour, such as Standing Labour Committee, Indian Labour Conference and other industry committees and sub-committees at state and national levels. The Federation is a key constituent of the Council of Indian Employers (CIE), along with the All India Organizations of Employers (AIOE) and Standing Conference of Public Enterprise (SCOPE). The Federation represents Indian employers at the international level as a member of Confederation of Asia-Pacific Employers (CAPE) and the International Organization of Employers (IOE).

In addition, the Federation participates in the deliberations of statutory and non-statutory bodies such as: Employees State Insurance Corporation, Employees Provident Fund Organization, Contract Labour Advisory Boards, Workers Education Schemes and other institutions of education and science.

The Federation represents Indian employers at the International Labour Organization (ILO) both in India and their global headquarters in Geneva and at International Organization of Employers (IOE) - a world body of employers in Geneva. The Federation is also associated with The Overseas Human Resource and Industrial Development Association (HIDA), Tokyo – Japan, which annually conducts a meeting of Employers’ Organizations of South Asian countries to deliberate on issues of common concerns and also provides opportunities to Indian professionals to visit Japan for study tours, training programs and other learning opportunities on relevance of Japanese systems and processes.
