Ambassador Foo Kok Jwee (符国裕) is the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Singapore to the United Nations Office and to the other international organisations in Geneva. He is concurrently accredited as Singapore’s Resident Representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna.
Prior to his current appointment, Ambassador Foo, was the Director-General of the Technical Cooperation Directorate in the Singapore Foreign Ministry from August 2011 to May 2014. During this period, he managed the Singapore Cooperation Programme, which is the primary platform through which Singapore extends technical assistance to more than 100 developing countries around the world.
Ambassador Foo also served as Press Secretary to Senior Minister (and Singapore’s second Prime Minister) Mr Goh Chok Tong from December 2010 to May 2014. He was concurrently Director (Special Duties) in Singapore’s Ministry of Communications and Information during this period.
Ambassador Foo held various appointments in the Southeast Asia Directorate and Americas Directorate in the Foreign Ministry throughout his diplomatic career. He served as Second Secretary, and subsequently as First Secretary and then Counsellor, in the Singapore Embassy in Jakarta between 2002 and 2006. He was also Director for Academic Matters in the Foreign Ministry’s Diplomatic Academy between 2010 and 2012.
Ambassador Foo graduated with a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from the National University of Singapore. He later earned a Master in Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
He is married to Madam Carol Lee Huay Meng and they have twin daughters.
